Airdrie & District Hospice Society Donations

Being a non-profit organization we rely heavily on donations from individuals and businesses. Many of our events focus on raising money each year and collecting donations from those who can give what they can.

When you donate through ATB they will match you donation by 15% and waive any fees...allowing more of your donation to go where it is most desperately needed. Your donation, in any amount is greatly appreciated, if you'd like to donate please do so here.... (search for Airdrie Hospice)

What We Do With Donations

We keep our overhead low and being a volunteer based program much of the work we do only costs time. Like many non-profits, we try to source out free options and solutions as much as possible and our community has been wonderful in helping us out!

Your donations go to help  us with a variety of goals we have set out for our society.

Office Space: Currently we do not have a physical location for our hospice or even office space (a big thank you to the various businesses who allow us to have our meetings in their meeting rooms for free each month!)

Besides having office space, we'd ideally like to find a space to begin having some hospice beds available. After all, providing End of Life care is what we do!

Grief Support Groups & Education: We hold educational and support programs during the year to assist those who are having a hard time coping with grief.

Volunteer Training: Being non-profit we needs lots of volunteers. Some of our volunteers take our Compassionate Care course so they can provide the bedside respite to those in need. Other volunteers help us over the year by handing out posters, working at trade shows and events and helping with administrative tasks. Without our volunteers we could not do what we do!

Compassionate Care Fund: Increasing the funds to allow for assistance when it is required.

Tree of Hope: A special and beautiful event we put on each year at Christmas. This service is free to the public and offers some words of love and remembrance, some songs and then lighting a Christmas Tree as you take a moment to remember your loved ones and hold them in the moment with you. We welcome individuals and families to attend. Warm hot chocolate is offered at this free event that we put on so everyone has a place to come together and partake in a special ceremony.

Hike for Hospice: Another wonderful event each year, we do our hike in the spring. Participants get together to run and raise money for the society.

Advertising: We try to do as much free advertising as we can, especially on social media. Advertising is critical to our society as we really need to get the word out about who we are and what services we offer. So many people, not just in Airdrie but in surrounding areas (Beiseker, Balzac, Irricana, Crossfield, Keoma, Kathryn and more), don't realize we have a society that can help them if they are facing End of Life challenges.

Advertising is essential to getting the word out and also in helping us receive the donations we need to meet our goals. Without the donations we can not meet the goals of having our own space and offering the beds and services we so desperately need.

We are fully accountable to the public and hold two open meetings a year and then our annual general meeting. As the public you are most welcome to attend to see what we are doing and how we are holding ourselves accountable to our goals. You will find information on all upcoming open meetings under Events.
